The weeks and months following birth are a time of enormous physical and emotional adjustment. Postnatal massage offers new mothers dedicated time to rest, recover and reconnect with their body while adapting to the demands of caring for a new baby.

What your postnatal massage treatment involves

Treatments are tailored to you and where you are in your postnatal recovery. Massage may help relieve muscular tension and discomfort through the neck, shoulders and back, particularly from feeding, carrying and settling your baby. It can also help ease tired, aching muscles, encourage relaxation and provide a much-needed opportunity to simply switch off and be cared for.

Your comfort is always a priority. Supportive pillows and positioning are used throughout your treatment so you can completely relax, whether you are breastfeeding, recovering from birth or simply finding certain positions more comfortable than others.

Babies are welcome at your appointment

Babies are always welcome. If your little one needs to feed, settle or simply be close to you during your appointment, we work around them. Your treatment is adapted to what you and your baby need on the day. I am also mindful that for many mums this could be their first time to be away from their newborn, so take that into consideration.

Postnatal massage is not simply about treating sore muscles. It is an opportunity for the person who spends so much time nurturing everyone else to be nurtured too.

When to book a postnatal massage

If you have had a VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarean), you are able to have your postnatal massage at any stage you feel up to it.

After a caesarean, most midwives will give approval for your postnatal massage from about 3 weeks.

I have been seeing Karen for my pregnancy massages and they are hands down some of the best massages I have ever had (pregnancy or not). Her hands are magic! Karen is always so kind, and so intuitive to each of her client’s wants & needs. She makes you feel very comfortable and her massage space is so homely. It is an absolute pleasure to see her every time!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had the most amazing pregnancy massage with Karen at Massageology. She was warm, professional, and instantly made me feel comfortable. The massage itself was tailored perfectly for pregnancy—gentle where it needed to be, but still so effective in easing my aches and tension. I walked out feeling lighter, relaxed, and genuinely cared for. Highly recommend Karen if you’re looking for a safe, supportive, and truly rejuvenating pregnancy massage!
