Pregnancy massage is a specialised treatment designed to support your body through the physical changes of pregnancy, while giving you time to relax, rest and recharge.

What your treatment involves

As a qualified NurtureLife® Pregnancy Massage practitioner, I tailor each treatment to your stage of pregnancy and your individual needs. Your comfort and safety are always the priority, with supportive positioning and specialised massage techniques used throughout your treatment.

You'll be comfortably positioned and supported with an abundance of pillows and bolsters, creating a cosy, nurturing space where you can truly relax and let your body rest.

I use pregnancy-safe massage oils specifically formulated for each trimester, allowing your treatment to evolve as your pregnancy progresses.

What pregnancy massage may help with

Pregnancy massage may help to ease many of the common discomforts that can accompany pregnancy, including:

  • lower back and hip discomfort
  • pelvic and rib tension
  • tired or aching legs
  • neck and shoulder tension
  • muscle tightness and general fatigue

It can also encourage relaxation, reduce feelings of stress and provide some much-needed time to simply switch off.

What the research says about pregnancy massage

Labour preparation massage

As you approach the final stages of pregnancy, labour preparation massage can also be incorporated when appropriate. This includes the use of a specially formulated preparation oil containing Clary Sage, together with massage techniques designed to support relaxation and prepare the body as you move closer to birth.

Every pregnancy is different, so every treatment is adapted to you, whether you are coming in to address a particular area of discomfort or enjoy spending 90 minutes where you can feel comfortable, supported and nurtured.

Contributing to pregnancy massage research

I was a study massage therapist in the HOPES (Helping suppOrt individuals Pregnant after Experiencing a Stillbirth) study, conducted through Western Sydney University.

The study explored the feasibility and acceptability of therapeutic massage as an adjunct approach to care for women experiencing a pregnancy following a previous stillbirth or termination for medical reasons after 20 weeks' gestation.

As a participating study massage therapist, I provided pregnancy massage treatments in accordance with the study's established treatment protocol.

The research involved 76 women across Australia and found massage to be highly acceptable and supportive to participants. The study met its pre-specified criteria to support progression to larger-scale research.

I am very proud to have contributed as a massage therapist to research exploring the role of massage as supportive care during pregnancy.

Pregnancy massage is always provided as complementary care and does not replace the advice or treatment of your obstetrician, midwife or other maternity healthcare provider.

I have been seeing Karen for my pregnancy massages and they are hands down some of the best massages I have ever had (pregnancy or not). Her hands are magic! Karen is always so kind, and so intuitive to each of her client’s wants & needs. She makes you feel very comfortable and her massage space is so homely. It is an absolute pleasure to see her every time!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had the most amazing pregnancy massage with Karen at Massageology. She was warm, professional, and instantly made me feel comfortable. The massage itself was tailored perfectly for pregnancy—gentle where it needed to be, but still so effective in easing my aches and tension. I walked out feeling lighter, relaxed, and genuinely cared for. Highly recommend Karen if you’re looking for a safe, supportive, and truly rejuvenating pregnancy massage!

Karen has a wealth of experience and a professional attitude. She works with sports injury, pregnancy massage, lymphatic drainage and regular massage. Both my husband and I see Karen and always walk away happy with the service she provides. I recommend booking in an appointment to find out for yourself where she can help you.
